The goal of this project was to design a poster inspired by a historical design movement, such as Postmodernism, Punk, Dada, or Russian Constructivism, and apply its style to a modern social or cultural issue. The focus was on using typography as the main visual element to connect past ideologies with present day themes.
this is my rough draft

i didnt understand it needed to be something that was like a movement, something to evoke feelings. so i had to switch it up real quick. After researching different movements,I chose Postmodernism because of its bold mix of styles, experimental typography, and ability to convey complex ideas through layered visuals. These qualities fit my modern topic, global warming, which requires both urgency and reflection. I studied postmodern designs that used contrast and distortion to grab attention, then created a layout using fragmented type, vibrant color contrasts, and overlapping imagery to symbolize the chaos and imbalance caused by climate change.

Reflection
This project taught me how design movements reflect their time and beliefs, and how their principles can be adapted for modern issues. I learned to balance historical style with contemporary meaning, using typography to express both message and emotion. It deepened my appreciation for how composition, color, and type choices shape public perception and showed me how design can influence culture and inspire change
